Standing water at the bottom of your LG dishwasher after a cycle is almost always a failed drain pump. In most LG dishwashers, this is caused by a seized or burned-out drain pump motor assembly. When it fails, water cannot be expelled at the end of the cycle — leaving dishes sitting in dirty water, triggering error codes, and preventing the next cycle from starting. ⚡ One of the most common failure points in LG dishwashers. ✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this drain pump assembly restores full drainage immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 30–45 minutes. Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before beginning. Remove the lower spray arm, filter assembly, and sump cover to access the pump housing. Twist the old pump counterclockwise to unlock and pull free, transfer any wiring connectors to the new unit, seat the new ABQ75742501 and twist clockwise to lock, then reassemble in reverse order. Do not overtighten the sump cover — hand-snug is sufficient to maintain the seal.
