The standard Whirlpool-family dryer drum belt is 1/4" wide × 92-1/4" long, multi-rib. The OEM part number is 341241, and it fits hundreds of Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Amana, Roper, Crosley, and Admiral dryers built over several decades.
If you've been searching for "what size belt does my Whirlpool dryer take" — this is it. The 341241 is the single most common dryer drum belt across the entire Whirlpool platform.
Quick answer: 1/4" × 92-1/4", multi-rib. Part number 341241. Also sold as WPW10112954, W10112954, and 8066065.
You don't need to open the dryer to suspect a broken belt. These are the most common signs:
If your dryer runs (you can hear the motor) but the drum doesn't move, the belt is almost certainly broken. This is the most common dryer repair across the entire Whirlpool family.
The 341241 fits hundreds of models across the WED, WGD, MED, MGD, NED, NGD, LER, LGR, LEQ, LGQ, and many other series. Key families include:
Whirlpool Electric & Gas: WED4800XQ, WED5000DW, WED5100HW, WED5500SQ, WED5800SW, WED7300DW, WGD4800XQ, WGD5000DW, and most WED/WGD models built from the 1980s through the mid-2010s.

This is the most important section of this guide — and the one most DIYers skip.
The idler pulley is the #1 cause of belt re-failure.
The idler pulley maintains constant tension on the drum belt. When its bearing wears out, it adds drag and heat to the belt on every rotation. A new belt on a worn idler pulley will typically fail again within a few months — sometimes weeks.
While the cabinet is open, spin the idler pulley by hand. A healthy pulley spins freely and quietly. If it wobbles, grinds, squeaks, or feels rough, replace it now. It's the same teardown, and it eliminates the most common cause of a repeat service call.
Also check the drum support rollers. These are the small wheels the drum rides on at the back (and sometimes front) of the cabinet. Spin each one by hand — they should spin freely with no flat spots or roughness. Worn rollers add drag that stresses the belt and motor.
Replacing the belt, idler pulley, and drum rollers together is the standard professional dryer rebuild. It costs a fraction of a service call and gives you years of reliable operation.
Skill level: Moderate | Time: 20–30 minutes | Tools: Putty knife or flathead screwdriver, ¼" nut driver (some models)
Step 1 — Disconnect power. Unplug the dryer or shut off the breaker. Cabinet edges are sharp — work carefully.
Step 2 — Open the cabinet. Most Whirlpool-platform dryers open from the front. Insert a putty knife 2–3 inches from each corner of the top panel to release the spring clips, then lift the top. Remove the two screws inside the door opening at the top of the front panel, then pull the front panel forward and down.
Step 3 — Support the drum. With the front panel off, the drum is only supported at the rear. Rest it on the front frame or use a block to hold it in place while you work.
Step 4 — Remove the old belt. The belt wraps around the drum, under the idler pulley, and around the motor pulley in a Z-pattern. Release the idler pulley tension and slip the belt off. Note the routing before removing — take a photo if helpful.
Step 5 — Inspect the idler pulley and drum rollers. Spin each by hand. Replace anything that feels rough, wobbles, or makes noise.
Step 6 — Route the new belt. Wrap the new 341241 around the drum with the ribbed side against the drum surface. Thread the belt under the idler pulley and around the motor pulley in the same Z-pattern. The idler pulley should be under spring tension holding the belt taut.
Step 7 — Spin the drum by hand. Confirm the belt tracks evenly and doesn't slip off either pulley before reassembling.
Step 8 — Reassemble and test. Reinstall the front panel and top, plug in the dryer, and run a short cycle to confirm normal operation.
