Ice cubes can clump together and jam in the dispenser chute, blocking new ice from coming out. This is especially common if the freezer temperature fluctuates, causing ice to partially melt and refreeze into clumps.
The auger motor drives the spiral auger blade that pushes ice from the bucket through the chute. When the motor fails, ice won't dispense even though the motor may hum or make noise. This is the #1 part failure for ice not dispensing.
The auger is the spiral plastic blade that moves ice through the chute. If it breaks, cracks, or gets jammed by ice buildup, it won't turn and ice won't dispense.
The dispenser switch tells the auger motor to run. If the switch fails, pressing the lever does nothing.
The dispenser control board receives the signal from the switch and activates the auger motor. If the board fails, the motor won't run.
If the ice bucket isn't seated correctly, the auger won't engage with the auger motor and ice won't dispense.
Moisture can freeze in the dispenser chute or around the door flap, blocking ice from coming out.
