A range surface element that won't heat makes cooking impossible. Whether it's a coil element or smooth glass cooktop, most surface element heating problems are caused by a few common parts you can replace yourself.
The surface element is the coil or radiant element that heats up. Over time, elements burn out, crack, or develop breaks in the coil. If the element doesn't glow red when turned on, it needs replacement.
The infinite switch controls the power level to the surface element. If it fails, the burner may not heat at all or may only work on certain settings.
The terminal block connects the element to the range's wiring. If it's burned, corroded, or loose, power can't reach the element.
Electric ranges use a 240V circuit. If one leg of the circuit trips, some burners may not work while others do.
We stock Surface Heating Elements, Infinite Switches (Surface Element Switches), Terminal Blocks, and Drip Pans for all major brands.
Need a replacement instead of a repair?

View Certified Pre-Owned AppliancesQ: Will replacing the switch fix my problem if the element itself is burned out?
A: No. If the heating element itself is damaged (cracked, blistered, or broken), you'll need to replace the element, not the switch. Test the element by swapping it with another burner or inspecting it visually for damage.
