Common Symptoms
- Dryer motor hums but the drum does not turn
- Dryer will not start or tumble because of a failed drive motor
- Dryer starts and stops intermittently when the motor overheats or fails
Check Before Replacing
- Disconnect power before servicing.
- With power disconnected, check whether the motor shaft and blower wheel turn freely and are not obstructed.
- If the motor hums without turning, inspect for a seized or obstructed blower wheel and verify the belt and drum are not binding.
- Confirm the part number against the dryer's complete model number before ordering.
Pro Tip
A motor that hums but does not start can be affected by a seized blower wheel, drum/belt obstruction, or the motor itself; check for mechanical binding before replacing the motor.
