If your GE or Hotpoint dryer’s cycle selector knob spins freely with no response, selects the wrong cycle, or the dryer won’t start on certain settings, a failed rotary switch is the most common cause. In most GE dryers, the rotary selector switch routes power to the correct heating and motor circuits based on the cycle selected. When the switch fails internally, contacts burn out or break, causing the dryer to behave erratically, refuse to start, or run on only one setting. ⚡ Common failure point in GE dryers with mechanical rotary controls. Photograph the wiring harness connections before disconnecting — the rotary switch has multiple terminals and correct reconnection is critical. Disconnect the harness, remove the mounting screws or clips, and swap in the new WW02F00572. Reconnect the harness per your photo, reinstall the panel, and test all cycle positions before returning to service.
