When your GE oven door won’t lock at the start of a self-clean cycle, won’t unlock after self-clean completes, or the self-clean cycle won’t initiate at all, the door latch assembly is the most common cause. In JB and JGB series GE self-clean ranges and ovens, the door latch motor drives a hook that locks the door during the high-temperature self-clean cycle. When the latch motor fails, the door won’t lock, the control board won’t allow self-clean to start, or the door becomes stuck locked after a cycle. ⚡ Common failure point in GE self-clean ovens after repeated high-temperature cycles. Reconnect the harness, reassemble, and restore power. Test by initiating a self-clean cycle to confirm the door locks and unlocks correctly.
