A completely dead burner — no heat, no glow, no response at any setting — is the classic sign of a failed coil surface element. In most GE, Hotpoint, and Moffat electric ranges, this is caused by a burned-out 8" coil element. When it fails, that burner becomes completely unusable, and a partial break can cause the element to glow on one side only or trip the breaker on startup. ⚡ One of the most common electric range failures across GE-built coil cooktops. Part WS01F11294 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full burner output immediately — no modification required.
This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:
✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this coil surface element restores normal burner operation immediately.
Skill Level: EASY — 5–10 minutes. Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing. The element plugs directly into the receptacle block — align the two prongs carefully and press firmly until fully seated. Do not force the element; a misaligned plug can damage the receptacle. Before installing, inspect the receptacle block for burn marks, melted plastic, or corroded terminals — a damaged receptacle must be replaced at the same time or the new element will fail prematurely.
