A GE dryer that takes multiple cycles to dry a load, runs hot, smells like burning, or trips the thermal fuse repeatedly almost always has a clogged, torn, or warped lint filter that is restricting airflow through the drum. In most GE GTD, GTX, HTX, and YTD series dryers, the lint filter assembly is the primary airflow control component — when the mesh tears, the frame warps, or lint builds up beyond what cleaning can remove, airflow drops and the heating system overloads. When it fails, the dryer runs longer, gets hotter, and eventually trips the thermal fuse as a safety response. ⚡ A restricted lint filter is the most common cause of GE dryer overheating and thermal fuse failure. Part WW02F00534 is the genuine OEM lint filter assembly that restores full airflow and safe drying temperatures immediately.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing the lint filter assembly restores normal drying times and safe operating temperatures immediately.
Skill Level: Very Easy — under 2 min, no tools required. No power disconnect needed for filter replacement alone. Pull the old filter straight up and out of the filter slot on the top of the dryer, slide the new WW02F00534 filter into the same slot until it seats flush, and confirm the frame is fully seated with no gaps. Run a short cycle and check that airflow from the exhaust vent is strong and unobstructed.
