The KP26M1X uses a 575-watt AC motor with a 10-speed planetary drive and all-metal gear train. Unlike tilt-head models, the Pro 600 uses metal worm gears — far more durable than the plastic gears in the Classic and Artisan Series. The most common failure points are the carbon brushes, speed control board, and bowl lift cam. The 6-quart stainless bowl is specific to the Pro 600 platform.
Grinding or rumbling noise: Degraded grease — full grease service recommended before replacing gears.
Shuts off mid-use: Carbon brushes worn — replace both at the same time.
Erratic speed: Speed control board failure.
Bowl won't rise or lock: Bowl lift cam or arm worn.
Mixer won't start: Speed control board or thermal overload tripped.

Unplug before any repair. The Pro 600 head is stationary — access internal components by removing the top cover plate. Carbon brushes are accessible from the motor housing sides. When performing a grease service, fully disassemble the gear housing and clean all old grease before repacking.
