The circulation pump with heater sits at the base of the dishwasher tub sump. The motor drives water through the spray arms at high pressure while the integrated heating element brings water to wash temperature. A thermistor monitors temperature and reports to the control board. Failure of any internal component typically requires replacing the entire assembly. Always clean the filter before replacing the pump, as a severely clogged filter can cause similar symptoms.

This is an advanced repair — always disconnect power and water before starting. Pull the dishwasher out from under the counter and lay it on its back for access. Remove the base cover to expose the pump at the bottom of the tub sump. Disconnect the wiring harness and water connections. Remove the mounting hardware and rotate the pump to release it. Install the new assembly in reverse order. Restore power and water and run a test cycle to confirm the error is cleared. Safety note: Always disconnect power before servicing any internal components.
