Common Symptoms

  • 🔎 Common Symptoms: Dryer tumbles but no heat • takes forever to dry • burns out fuses repeatedly • visible burn spot or break in old coil.

Check Before Replacing

  • Test the heating element for continuity with a multimeter — no continuity confirms failure
  • Check the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat — a blown fuse is often caused by a failed element
  • Inspect and clear the exhaust duct — restricted airflow is the #1 cause of element burnout
  • Verify the dryer is on a dedicated 240V circuit (electric models) — low voltage causes slow drying

Pro Tip

💡 Tech Tip: Always check / replace the paired thermostat or “thermostat / thermal illuminiter” (Midea 17400513000460) at the same time — if the dryer overheated, it can cook the new element too.

Installation Notes

  • 🛠️ Installation Tips: Unplug the dryer and disconnect power before doing anything. Pull the rear service panel to expose the element housing. Disconnect high-limit thermostat / thermal cut-off wiring and element leads (take a picture first so you don’t mix terminals). Remove mounting screws, slide the old element housing out. Install the new assembly in the same orientation, reconnect wires snug, reassemble the rear cover, test for heat.
