✅ Cross Reference Information

Common Symptoms

• Visible water on the floor or dripping from the hose/connection while the washer drains.
• A cut, worn, kinked, or displaced drain hose.
• The existing drain hose is too short to reach the required drain location.
• The hose comes loose from the washer drain connection or is not secured at the standpipe/laundry tub.

Check Before Replacing

• Disconnect power before inspecting the hose area. Visually inspect the accessible hose and connection for kinks, cuts, wear, or signs of leakage.
• During a drain cycle, observe the hose connection and drain end without touching moving or wet components; stop the cycle if water leaks or the hose shifts.
• Verify the hose is secured to the standpipe or laundry-tub leg and is not forced too far into the standpipe; Whirlpool installation guidance limits insertion to 4.5 inches to help avoid siphoning.
• If the hose and its connections appear intact, check that the household standpipe or laundry drain is accepting water before attributing a draining problem to the hose.

Installation Notes

• Follow the installation instructions for the specific washer model.
• At the washer connection, push the hose fully onto the drain connector to the ribbed stops, position the clamp over the marked clamp area, and release the clamp.
• Secure the drain hose to the standpipe or laundry-tub leg with the retaining strap so it cannot come loose during draining.
• Do not force excess hose into the standpipe; applicable Whirlpool guidance specifies no more than 4.5 inches of hose inside the standpipe or below the top of the wash tub to help prevent siphoning.
• For an extension-hose installation, verify whether Connector Kit 285442 is required for the specific configuration.
