When your Electrolux or Frigidaire dishwasher develops a grinding, squealing, or rumbling noise during the wash cycle, the front shaft bearing assembly is the most common failed component. Skill Level: ADVANCED — 60–90 minutes. Disconnect power at the breaker and shut off the water supply before beginning. The front shaft bearing assembly is accessed by pulling the dishwasher out and removing the lower pump housing — the unit may need to be laid on its back or side for access. Remove the pump assembly, extract the worn bearing, press or seat the new bearing assembly into position, and reassemble in reverse order. Restore power and water, then run a full wash cycle to confirm quiet operation and no leaks.
