Disconnect the wiring terminals — note orientation before removing — and inspect the harness for heat damage before reusing. Seat the new element firmly, reconnect terminals, reassemble, and run a heated wash cycle to confirm proper temperature and drying. Do not skip testing the thermal fuse and thermostat before reassembly.
