The 8280503 is the OEM cycle selector switch for Whirlpool and Kenmore top-load direct-drive washers. This rotary switch controls which wash cycle the machine runs — Normal, Delicate, Permanent Press, and more. When it fails, the washer may not start, may skip cycles, get stuck on a single setting, or fail to advance through the wash sequence. It’s one of the most common control panel repairs on older Whirlpool-platform top-loaders.

The 8280503 cycle selector switch is a direct OEM replacement for Whirlpool-platform top-load washers. It mounts to the control panel and connects via a wiring harness to the timer and motor circuit. This switch is compatible with a wide range of Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, and Estate top-load washer models built on the direct-drive platform.

Unplug the washer before beginning any repair. Remove the control panel by releasing the clips or screws at the back of the top panel. Disconnect the wiring harness from the old switch, noting connector positions. Press the new switch into the panel mount and reconnect the harness. Reinstall the control panel and plug the washer back in. Test all cycle positions before reassembling fully. Most installations take 15–30 minutes.
