Note: Replacing the pump casing assembly requires significant disassembly. Allow 45–60 minutes and work carefully to avoid damaging components.

1. Turn off power to the dishwasher – Switch off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher (typically 15–20 amp). Verify power is off.
2. Turn off water supply – Close the water shut-off valve under the sink that supplies the dishwasher.
3. Remove the dishwasher from the cabinet:Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws securing the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop.Carefully pull the dishwasher forward out of the cabinet.Disconnect the water supply line, drain hose, and electrical connection (junction box) as you pull it out.Place towels under the dishwasher to catch residual water.
4. Lay the dishwasher on its back – Carefully tip the dishwasher onto its back to access the bottom. Protect the floor and door with towels or cardboard.
5. Remove the bottom access panel/base plate – Remove screws securing the bottom panel to expose the pump assembly area.
6. Locate the pump casing assembly – Find the pump casing at the center bottom of the dishwasher tub. The wash motor and drain pump will be attached to it.
7. Photograph all connections – Document all hose connections, wire harnesses, and mounting points before disassembly.
8. Disconnect electrical connections:Unplug the wire harness connectors from the wash pump motor.Unplug the wire harness connectors from the drain pump motor.
9. Disconnect hoses:Remove the hose clamps and disconnect hoses from the pump casing (spray arm supply lines, drain hose connection, etc.).Have towels ready — residual water will drain out.
10. Remove the wash pump motor:The wash pump motor typically twists off or is secured with screws/clips to the pump casing.Rotate counterclockwise (bayonet mount) or remove mounting screws.Set the motor aside — you'll transfer it to the new casing.
11. Remove the drain pump motor:The drain pump is usually secured with screws or a twist-lock mount.Remove and set aside for transfer to the new casing.
12. Remove the pump casing from the tub:The casing connects to the bottom of the wash tub, typically with screws or a clamp ring.Remove the mounting hardware and carefully separate the casing from the tub.Note the orientation and position of any gaskets or seals.
13. Inspect and transfer components:Inspect the wash pump motor and drain pump motor for damage. Replace if worn.Transfer any gaskets, seals, or mounting hardware to the new casing if not included.Clean any debris or buildup from the tub opening.

15. Reinstall the wash pump motor:Attach the wash pump motor to the new casing.Twist clockwise to lock (bayonet mount) or secure with screws.Ensure proper seating and alignment.
16. Reinstall the drain pump motor:Attach the drain pump to the new casing.Secure with screws or twist-lock.
17. Reconnect all hoses:Attach spray arm supply lines, drain connections, and any other hoses.Secure with hose clamps — ensure tight, leak-free connections.
18. Reconnect electrical connections:Plug wire harnesses into the wash pump motor and drain pump motor.Ensure connectors are fully seated.
19. Reinstall the bottom panel – Replace the base plate and secure with screws.
20. Return dishwasher to upright position – Carefully tip the dishwasher back upright.

Before replacing the entire pump casing, diagnose the actual failure point. If your dishwasher is leaking, the leak may be coming from a failed gasket, cracked hose, loose connection, or the pump motors themselves — not necessarily the casing. Inspect carefully with a flashlight while the dishwasher runs (door cracked slightly or during drain cycle) to pinpoint the leak source. If the casing itself is cracked or warped, replacement is necessary. However, if only a gasket or seal has failed, you may be able to replace just that component.
