Installation

Unplug the washer before starting. Access the straps by removing the washer cabinet — typically by releasing the front panel clips or removing the top panel depending on the model. Unhook the old strap from the tub and cabinet bracket, hook the new strap in place, and reassemble. It’s recommended to replace all four straps at the same time since they age together.

Pro Tip

Always replace all four dampening straps at once — if one has broken, the others are at the same age and will fail soon. Replacing just one leaves the tub unevenly supported and the banging will return quickly. While the cabinet is open, also check the suspension springs (if present) and the tub bearing for wear, as these are common companion failures on older GE top-loaders.
