A worn suspension rod is the #1 cause of violent banging and tub imbalance in GE top-load washers. In most GE, Hotpoint, and RCA top-load washers, the tub is held in place by four spring-loaded suspension rods. When one or more rods wear out or lose spring tension, the drum swings freely during the spin cycle — slamming into the cabinet walls, triggering out-of-balance shutdowns, and walking the machine across the floor. ⚡ Common failure point in GE-built top-load washers. Part WW01F01883 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores proper tub suspension, eliminates banging, and brings your washer back to smooth, quiet operation.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing all four suspension rods restores normal operation immediately.
Skill Level: Moderate — 30–60 minutes. Disconnect power before servicing. Remove the washer lid or front panel to access the suspension rod mounting points at the top corners of the cabinet. Unhook the old rod from the tub ring and cabinet clip, snap the new rod into place, and repeat for all four corners. Always replace all four rods as a set — replacing only one leaves the tub unevenly supported.
