A failed range hood motor assembly causes your Broan or NuTone range hood to lose suction, run at only one speed, make grinding or humming noises, or stop working entirely — leaving smoke, grease, and cooking odours trapped in your kitchen. In most Broan-built range hoods, this is caused by a failed motor assembly — the 2-speed blower motor that drives the exhaust fan and pulls air through the grease filters and ductwork. When it fails, the fan may not start, run only on one speed, vibrate excessively, or hum without spinning, and ventilation performance drops to zero. ⚡ The most common mechanical failure in Broan and NuTone range hoods. Part S10941066 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full 2-speed exhaust performance and quiet operation immediately.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this motor assembly restores full 2-speed ventilation and quiet operation immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 20–40 minutes. Phillips screwdriver and wire connectors required. Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing. Remove the grease filters and unscrew the motor mounting bracket from inside the hood cavity. Disconnect the wiring harness from the old motor, transfer the fan blade to the new S10941066 assembly if required, connect the wiring, and secure the motor back into the mounting bracket. Restore power and test both speed settings.
