A failed light indicator is the cause when your Whirlpool washer’s control panel shows no status lights, missing cycle indicators, or a completely dark display despite the machine running normally. In most Whirlpool-built washers, the light indicator board illuminates cycle status, option selections, and error codes on the control panel. Skill Level: EASY — 15–30 minutes. Disconnect power before servicing. The light indicator is accessed by removing the control panel (typically 2–4 screws at the rear or underside of the panel). Disconnect the wiring harness from the old indicator, snap or screw the new indicator into position, reconnect the harness, and reassemble the panel. Restore power and verify all status lights illuminate correctly.
