If your Whirlpool over-the-range microwave powers on, the turntable spins, and the light works — but food comes out cold — the high voltage transformer is the most likely cause. In Whirlpool WMH31017, WMH53520, and WMH73521 series microwaves, the high voltage transformer (HVT) steps up line voltage to power the magnetron. When it fails, the microwave appears fully operational but produces no heat — the magnetron simply isn't receiving the voltage it needs to generate microwave energy. ⚡ Primary no-heat failure component in Whirlpool-platform over-the-range microwaves. Part W10836753 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full high voltage output and gets your microwave heating again.
This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:
Not sure? Send us your model number — we'll confirm before you order.
✔ If these symptoms match, the high voltage transformer is the most likely failed component in the HV circuit.
✔ In most cases, replacing the transformer restores full heating function immediately.
Skill Level: ADVANCED — 45–60 minutes. HIGH VOLTAGE HAZARD — read all safety notes before proceeding. Disconnect power and discharge the high voltage capacitor before touching any HV components — the capacitor can hold a lethal charge even after unplugging. Remove the outer cabinet, locate the transformer mounted to the chassis floor, disconnect the primary and secondary wiring harnesses, remove the mounting bolts, and swap the transformer. Reconnect in reverse order, verify all HV connections are secure, and test before reassembling the cabinet.
