When your refrigerator stops dispensing water or producing ice, the water inlet valve is almost always the culprit. Part W11524655 is the genuine OEM replacement water valve for select Whirlpool and KitchenAid refrigerators, directly superseding W11446816. XPart Supply also carries a premium aftermarket XPart option for budget-conscious repairs.
This is the water inlet valve — the electrically-operated solenoid valve that controls water flow into your refrigerator for both the ice maker and the door dispenser. If your fridge is connected to a water line but nothing comes out, this valve is the first thing to test. Confirm your model number below before ordering.
⚠ Aftermarket and used parts are not manufactured by or affiliated with Whirlpool Corporation.
Skill Level: Intermediate. Disconnect power and shut off the water supply line before beginning. The valve is typically accessed from the rear of the refrigerator. Unplug the wire harness connectors, disconnect the water lines (have a towel ready — residual water will drain), and remove the mounting screws. Reverse to install. Run a dispenser cycle and check for leaks before pushing the fridge back into position.
