  Unplug the range or disconnect power at the circuit breaker before starting.

  Use insulated pliers and wire connectors rated for high heat.
  

🧰 Tools You’ll Need

  Phillips & flat-head screwdriver

  Wire cutters / strippers

  Crimping tool or pliers

  High-temperature wire connectors (usually included with the new receptacle)
  
• 
  Needle-nose pliers (optional)
  

🔧 Step-by-Step Installation

1. 
   Remove the burner element
   
   
   Lift and pull the surface element straight out of the socket.
   
   
   If it’s stuck, gently rock it side-to-side — don’t twist the terminals.
   
   
   
2. 
   Access the receptacle
   
   
   Lift the main top (on some models you may need to remove screws under the front lip).
   
   
   Locate the damaged or burnt receptacle connected to the element wires.
   
   
   
3. 
   Disconnect old wiring
   
   
   Cut the wires close to the old receptacle.
   
   
   Strip about ½ inch (1.2 cm) of insulation from each wire end.
   
   
   
4. 
   Connect the new receptacle
   
   
   Use the included high-temperature ceramic wire nuts or crimp connectors.
   
   
   Match wire-to-wire (color doesn’t usually matter as both are hot leads).
   
   
   Tug gently to ensure the connections are secure.
   
   
   
5. 
   Mount the new receptacle
   
   
   Clip or screw it into the metal bracket where the old one was.
   
   
   Make sure the opening faces forward so the element plugs in straight.
   
   
   
6. 
   Re-install the element
   
   
   Align the burner prongs with the slots and push firmly into the receptacle.
   
   
   Check that it seats evenly and doesn’t wobble.
   
   
   
7. 
   Test the burner
   
   
   Restore power and turn on the burner briefly.
   
   
   The element should heat evenly within a few seconds.
   
   
   If it doesn’t, unplug and re-check wire connections and seating.

🚧 Installation Notes & Compatibility

When installing, you’ll need to splice (cut, strip, and join) the existing wires if the leads on the new receptacle are not long enough.

⚠️ Common Issues

• 
  Loose terminals cause arcing or intermittent heating — replace any darkened or melted receptacles immediately.
  
• 
  Burnt wires must be cut back to clean copper before reconnecting.
  
• 
  Mismatched connectors (wrong size or low-temp) can overheat — always use the high-temperature connectors included in the kit.
