  9. Reconnect wiring and secure harness routing away from the heater and fan blades.
  10. Reinstall evaporator cover, shelves, and restore power.
  11. Confirm airflow returns and monitor temps over the next 12–24 hours.
  1. Test the thermostat cold (ice water): it should show continuity when cold and open when warm (spec varies).
  2. If the thermostat is open at freezer temps, it’s failed—don’t condemn the control board first.
  3. Always inspect the defrost heater and wiring for burn marks while you’re in the evaporator compartment.
  4. If icing returns quickly, suspect a defrost control issue (board/timer) or a door gasket air leak.
