A torn, cracked, or mold-damaged door gasket is the most common cause of water leaking from the front of a GE front-load washer. In GE and Hotpoint front-load washers, the door bellows gasket forms the only watertight seal between the door glass and the wash tub — every drop of water that enters the drum passes within millimetres of this seal on every cycle. When the gasket tears, cracks, or collapses at the folds, water escapes onto the floor during wash and spin, and mold colonizes the damaged rubber within days. ⚡ Common failure point in GE front-load washers — gaskets degrade from heat, detergent buildup, and mechanical stress over time. Part WG04A04082 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores a watertight door seal and eliminates leak and mold issues immediately — direct fit, no modifications required.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing the door gasket restores a watertight seal and eliminates odor immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 45–60 minutes. Disconnect power before servicing. Remove the front panel and door boot clamp rings (inner and outer) to release the old gasket from the tub and door lip. Clean the mounting channel thoroughly before installing the new gasket. Seat the new WG04A04082 into the tub groove first, then work the outer lip over the door frame and reinstall both clamp rings. Verify the gasket seats evenly with no gaps before running a test cycle.
