The WG04F10037 door switch assembly is the safety interlock that tells your GE dishwasher the door is fully closed and latched before allowing the cycle to start. When it fails, the dishwasher won't start, won't fill with water, or may stop mid-cycle. This is a direct OEM replacement that restores full door latch and switch function in a straightforward DIY repair.

The door switch assembly combines the door latch mechanism with one or more micro-switches that signal the control board when the door is securely closed. The dishwasher's control board will not initiate any cycle — water fill, wash, or drain — unless it receives a closed-door signal from this switch. A failed switch can present as a completely dead dishwasher or as a machine that starts briefly then stops.
This assembly directly resolves: dishwasher won't start at all, dishwasher won't fill with water, cycle stops mid-wash, door latch feels loose or doesn't click, dishwasher starts without the door fully closed (switch stuck closed), and control panel lights up but no cycle initiates.

Disconnect power before starting. Open the dishwasher door and remove the inner door panel screws around the perimeter. Carefully separate the inner and outer door panels. Disconnect the wiring harness from the old switch assembly. Release the mounting clips or screws holding the latch assembly and remove it. Install the new assembly, reconnect the harness, and reassemble the door panels. Restore power and test with a short cycle.
Fits GE, GE Profile, Hotpoint, and Haier dishwashers. Add your model number to the contact form for fit verification before ordering.
How do I know if my door switch is bad? If the dishwasher is completely dead when you press Start but the control panel has power, the door switch is the first thing to test. Use a multimeter to check for continuity with the door closed — no continuity means the switch has failed. Contact us if you need help diagnosing.
Is the XPart switch the same quality as OEM? The XPart WG04F10037XP is engineered to the same electrical and mechanical specification as the OEM assembly. It is a direct drop-in replacement.
Can I install this myself? Yes — replacing a dishwasher door switch is a beginner-friendly repair. The main steps are removing the inner door panel and swapping the latch assembly. Total time: 20–30 minutes. Contact us if you need model-specific guidance.
What if my dishwasher still won't start after replacing the switch? Check the control board and door latch striker next. Contact us and we'll help diagnose further.
