Inlet valves require a minimum of 20 PSI to open fully. If your home water pressure is low, the valve may appear failed when it’s actually starved for pressure. Test pressure at the supply line before ordering — and while you’re in there, inspect the inlet screen for mineral buildup, which can mimic a dead valve.

- Skill Level: Intermediate — requires pulling the fridge from the wall and accessing the rear panel
- Always unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before beginning
- Tools Required: ¼" nut driver, adjustable wrench, towels for residual water
- Have a bucket ready — the supply line will release water when disconnected
- Reconnect water line fittings hand-tight first, then snug with wrench — do not overtighten plastic fittings
- Run 2–3 ice maker cycles after install to purge air from the line before checking operation
