The W11615506 Start Relay & Overload Device is a critical refrigerator component that works alongside the compressor to initiate the cooling cycle. When this part fails, your refrigerator may stop cooling entirely or the compressor may click on and off repeatedly. Replacing it promptly restores normal operation and protects your compressor from further damage.

The start relay works in conjunction with the compressor start winding to get the compressor motor running. The overload protector monitors current draw and temperature, cutting power if the compressor overheats or draws excessive current. This OEM W11615506 unit combines both functions in a single, plug-in device — making replacement straightforward and reliable.
Refrigerator not cooling or freezing. Compressor clicking on and off (rapid cycling). Compressor runs briefly then shuts off. Refrigerator completely dead with no compressor activity. Rattling or clicking noise near the compressor.

Unplug the refrigerator before beginning any repair. The start relay and overload device is located at the bottom rear of the refrigerator, plugged directly into the compressor terminals. Pull the old relay straight off the compressor pins — no tools required. Shake the old relay; a rattling sound confirms it has failed. Plug the new W11615506 directly onto the compressor terminals, restore power, and listen for the compressor to start within a few minutes.
