A dishwasher where buttons don’t respond, cycles can’t be selected, or the display is blank or flickering is almost always caused by a failed control panel — not the main control board. In most Whirlpool, Maytag, and KitchenAid dishwashers, the control panel (also called the touchpad or user interface panel) is the front-facing assembly that houses the buttons, display, and membrane switches. When it fails, button presses don’t register, the display goes dark or shows partial segments, and the dishwasher can’t be started or programmed. ⚡ Common failure point on Whirlpool-platform dishwashers — moisture intrusion and membrane fatigue are the leading causes. Part W10175291 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full button response and display function immediately.

Skill Level: MODERATE — 20–30 minutes. Disconnect power before servicing. Open the dishwasher door and remove the inner door panel screws to access the control panel assembly. Disconnect the ribbon cable and wire harness connectors from the old panel, transfer any mounting hardware, and connect the new panel in reverse order. Reassemble the door and restore power to confirm full button and display operation.
