The WP8181694 dual water inlet valve controls the flow of both hot and cold water into your Whirlpool washer. When this valve fails, your machine may fill too slowly, not fill at all, or fill with only one temperature of water. This is the correct OEM replacement to restore proper fill cycles and protect your washer from overfill or underfill conditions.

The dual solenoid design means this single valve manages both the hot and cold water inlets simultaneously, making it a critical component for proper wash and rinse temperature control. A faulty inlet valve is one of the most common causes of washer fill problems and is a straightforward DIY repair on most Whirlpool-platform front and top-load washers.
Washer not filling with water. Washer filling with hot water only or cold water only. Washer filling too slowly. Washer overfilling or not stopping at the correct water level. Humming noise during fill cycle with no water entering the drum.

Unplug the washer and shut off both hot and cold water supply valves before beginning. Have towels ready — residual water will drain from the hoses when disconnected. The inlet valve is typically located at the rear of the machine behind the access panel. Disconnect the water supply hoses, electrical connectors, and mounting screws. Install the new valve in reverse order, hand-tighten the supply hoses first, then snug with pliers — do not overtighten. Restore water supply and check for leaks before running a test cycle.
