Why is my Samsung ice maker not making ice?

A Samsung ice maker that stops producing ice can be caused by several things — check these in order of likelihood: (1) Ice maker turned off — verify the ice maker is switched on. Press the Ice Maker button on the display or check the switch inside the freezer. (2) Water supply issue — the ice maker needs water to make ice. Check that the water supply valve behind the refrigerator is fully open, the water line isn't kinked, and the water filter isn't overdue for replacement (a clogged filter restricts flow to the ice maker). Listen when the ice maker fills — you should hear a brief buzzing sound as the water inlet valve opens. No sound means the valve isn't getting power or is clogged. (3) Freezer temperature too warm — the freezer must be at 0°F or below for ice to form properly. If the freezer is above 10°F, ice won't freeze in the tray. Check the temperature setting and verify the freezer is cooling properly. (4) Frozen fill tube — the small tube that delivers water to the ice tray can freeze solid, blocking water flow.
