When your GE range oven runs hot, shuts off unexpectedly, or the cooling fan stops spinning after the oven is turned off, the culprit is almost always a failed oven cooling fan motor. In GE, Hotpoint, and Café slide-in and freestanding ranges, this motor runs continuously during and after cooking cycles to protect the control board and surrounding cabinetry from heat damage. When it fails, the oven may overheat, trip thermal limiters, or shut down mid-cycle. ⚡ Left unrepaired, a failed cooling motor can damage your control board — a $300+ repair. Part WS01F09894 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full cooling airflow and protects your range's electronics.
This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:
✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this cooling fan motor restores normal operation immediately.
Skill Level: Intermediate — 30–60 minutes. Always disconnect power at the breaker before beginning any repair. Remove the rear access panel to reach the cooling fan assembly mounted near the control board. Disconnect the wiring harness, remove the mounting screws, and swap the motor. Reconnect the harness and secure all fasteners before restoring power. Do not overtighten mounting screws — snug is sufficient to avoid cracking the bracket.
