Why is my oven not cooking evenly on convection mode?

Uneven convection cooking means the circulating airflow system isn't working properly. The most common cause is a failed convection fan motor — if the motor has died or is running slowly, the fan can't circulate air effectively, and the oven behaves like a conventional oven with heat radiating from the elements only. Set the oven to convection bake and listen near the rear wall — you should hear a steady whooshing sound of air being circulated. If it's silent, the motor has failed. If you hear grinding or rattling, the motor bearings are worn and the motor is failing. Open the oven door briefly and look at the fan behind the rear panel — if it's not spinning or spinning slowly, the motor needs replacement. Other causes of uneven convection cooking include a blocked rear oven panel (food debris covering the air vents), a failed convection heating element (fan spins but the air isn't heated — check if the ring element glows when convection is selected), and overloading the oven (too many pans blocking airflow — leave space between pans and the oven walls for air to circulate).
