Dishwasher Induction Pump
Is This the Part You Need?
This is the induction pump assembly for select GE, GE Profile, and Café dishwashers. The induction pump is the primary motor that circulates water through the spray arms during the wash and rinse cycles. Unlike traditional brush motors, induction pumps use electromagnetic induction for quieter, more efficient operation. When the induction pump fails, the dishwasher fills with water normally but produces no spray action — dishes come out dirty, and the unit may hum without circulating water. This is the core cleaning component, and its failure brings the dishwasher to a complete stop.
Symptoms of a Failed GE Dishwasher Induction Pump
- Dishwasher fills with water but makes no sound during the wash cycle
- Humming sound without water circulating through the spray arms
- Dishes come out dirty after a full cycle
- Weak or no pressure from the upper or lower spray arms
- Dishwasher stops mid-cycle with water in the tub
- Error codes related to wash motor or circulation failure
- Grinding or rattling noise during the wash cycle

💡 Pro Tip — Check the Motor Capacitor Before Replacing the Pump:
If your GE dishwasher hums but won’t circulate water, the induction pump’s start capacitor may have failed before the pump itself — a much cheaper fix. Test the capacitor with a multimeter before committing to a full pump replacement. Also inspect the sump area for broken glass or debris jamming the impeller — a jammed impeller mimics a dead motor and is a free fix. Rule both out before ordering the pump.
