If your GE top load washer shakes violently, walks across the floor, or makes loud banging noises during the spin cycle, a broken front suspension rod is the most common cause. In most GE top load washers, this is caused by a failed front suspension rod — the spring-loaded strut that absorbs drum movement at the front mounting points during agitation and spin. When it fails, the drum drops and tilts forward, causing severe vibration, loud banging, and potential damage to the cabinet and tub. ⚡ Common failure point in GE GTW-series and Adora top load washers — front rods typically fail alongside the rear pair. Part WW01F01683 is the genuine OEM front suspension rod that restores balanced drum support and eliminates vibration immediately.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing the front suspension rod(s) restores smooth, balanced operation immediately.
Skill Level: EASY — 20–30 minutes. Disconnect power before servicing. Open the washer lid and remove the top panel or cabinet (model-dependent). The front suspension rods hook into mounting points on the top frame and the outer tub — unhook the old rod, hook in the new one. No tools required for most models. Replace all four rods at the same time — if one front rod has failed, the rear rods (WW01F01684) are at the same wear stage and will fail shortly after.
