If your GE, Hotpoint, or Maytag top-load washer won't spin, stops mid-cycle, or throws error codes related to motor speed, the motor speed sensor has failed. In most GE-platform top-load washers, this is caused by a failed motor speed sensor. When it fails, the control board loses feedback on drum rotation speed — causing the washer to abort spin cycles, stop mid-wash, display error codes, or leave clothes soaking wet at the end of the cycle. ⚡ Common failure point in GE-built top-load washers across the GTW, HTW, MTW, LMH, and WMH model families. Part WW01F01977 is the genuine OEM replacement motor speed sensor that restores accurate drum speed feedback and full spin cycle operation immediately.

✔ If these symptoms match, the motor speed sensor is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing the motor speed sensor restores full spin cycle operation immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 20 to 45 minutes. Disconnect power at the wall or breaker before servicing. The motor speed sensor is located near the motor or on the stator assembly beneath the wash tub — access typically requires removing the cabinet or tilting the machine. Disconnect the harness connector from the old sensor, unclip or unscrew it from its mount, install WW01F01977 in the same position, and reconnect the harness firmly. Reassemble and run a spin cycle to confirm normal operation.
