GE Washer Vibrating Violently or Tub Off-Balance? Subwasher Kit WW01F03254 – Fix Tub Suspension Fast

If your GE GTW680-series top-load washer is shaking excessively, banging during spin, walking across the floor, or displaying an imbalance error, a failed tub suspension (subwasher) kit is the most common cause. In most GE high-efficiency top-load washers, the subwasher suspension system supports the inner tub and absorbs the forces generated during spin. When the suspension components wear out or break, the tub loses its damping, causing violent vibration, loud banging, and unbalanced loads that the machine cannot correct. ⚡ Most common structural failure in GE GTW680-series washers after 4–7 years of use. Part WW01F03254 is the genuine OEM subwasher kit that restores full tub suspension and eliminates vibration and imbalance immediately.

❓ Is This the Right Part?

This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:

  • ✔ Washer powers on and cycles run — motor and controls function normally
  • ✔ Drive belt and motor coupling are intact and confirmed functional
  • ✔ Load is balanced — problem occurs even with small, evenly distributed loads
  • ✔ Washer is level — all four feet are adjusted and floor is solid
  • ✔ ONLY problem is excessive vibration, banging during spin, or persistent imbalance errors

🔧 Common Symptoms

  • Washer shakes or vibrates violently during spin cycle — most common complaint
  • Loud banging or thumping from inside the cabinet during spin
  • Washer walks or moves across the floor during operation
  • Persistent unbalanced load errors even with small loads
  • Tub visibly wobbles or tilts when pushed by hand with the lid open
  • Spin cycle cuts short repeatedly — machine can’t reach full speed

✔ If these symptoms match, the tub suspension kit is the most likely failed component.

✔ In most cases, replacing the subwasher kit restores smooth, quiet spin operation immediately.

⚙️ Installation Notes

Skill Level: MODERATE — 40–60 minutes. Unplug the washer before beginning — this is a heavy item requiring two people for safe handling. Remove the top panel and cabinet to access the tub assembly. Disconnect the suspension components from the tub and base frame, noting orientation before removal. Install the new WW01F03254 kit components in reverse order. After reassembly, run Test 15 followed by Test 14 (GE diagnostic mode) to calibrate the suspension and confirm balanced operation before returning to service.

💡 Pro Tip

Run the GE Diagnostic Calibration After Install:
After replacing the subwasher kit, the GTW680 requires a suspension calibration sequence (Test 15, then Test 14) to re-learn the tub’s balance point — skipping this step often results in continued imbalance errors even with a correctly installed kit. The calibration takes under 5 minutes and is the single most important step to confirm the repair is complete.

Unit requires special programing service mode to re-position mode shifter.

  1. Press and hold start button while rotating knob seven times clockwise.
  2. Release the start button and all lights should start flashing. At that point turning the knob clockwise increments the numbers on screen.
  3. Put it on Test:15 (check for only agitator spinning without drum), let it do its job for 2-3minutes.
  4. Later, hit the start button so it stops and then put it in Test:14 whole drum spins including agitator).
  5. Leave it for 2-3minutes. This is the time where Mode shifter aligns properly with the drum. If these 2 tests are passed, then exit service mode by hitting Power button.
  6. Now, put it in Drain and spin, and see if it works.
