• Run the washer only if safe to do so and compare whether the failure occurs during agitation, spin, or the transition between them.
• Inspect the underside of the washer for oil or grease around the transmission/gearcase housing.
• Before condemning the gearcase, check related drivetrain components such as the motor coupler, clutch, pump, and electrical connections, because similar symptoms can have other causes.
