CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Turn off breaker and water supply. Expect water spillage.

  1. Turn off power at the breaker and confirm the dishwasher is off.
  2. Shut off water supply to the dishwasher.
  3. Remove toe-kick panel(s).
  4. Disconnect drain hose and water supply line as needed; place towels/pan.
  5. Pull dishwasher out enough to access the underside, or carefully lay it on its back (protect floor).
  6. Disconnect wiring connectors from the pump/motor assembly.
  7. Release hose clamps and remove hoses from the pump ports (mark positions).
  8. Remove retaining clips/locking ring (platform dependent) and rotate/unlock the pump from the sump.
  9. Install the new W10902589 pump: seat O-ring properly, lock/rotate fully into place.
  10. Reconnect hoses and clamps (replace weak clamps).
  11. Reconnect wiring connectors fully seated.
  12. Restore water and power, run a test cycle, and check for leaks + strong spray action.
  1. Before replacing, clean filters and confirm spray arms aren’t blocked—low wash pressure mimics pump failure.
  2. If the motor hums but won’t start, check for debris jam in the impeller/sump first.
