If your GE oven interior is completely dark during cooking — no light when the door opens or during baking — the halogen light assembly is the most common cause. In most GE electric and gas ranges, the oven interior light assembly consists of a halogen bulb and socket mounted to the oven cavity wall — it illuminates the interior when the door is opened or when the light switch is activated. When the bulb burns out or the socket fails, the oven interior goes completely dark, making it impossible to monitor food without opening the door and losing heat. ⚡ Common wear item in GE ranges — halogen bulbs have a finite lifespan and the socket can fail from heat cycling over time. Part WS01F01691 is the genuine OEM complete halogen light assembly that restores full oven interior illumination — includes socket and bulb, direct fit, no modification required.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this halogen light assembly restores full oven interior illumination immediately.
Skill Level: EASY — 10–15 minutes. Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing — the oven light circuit is live even when the oven is off. Remove the oven light cover (usually a twist-off glass lens), unplug the old assembly from its socket or unscrew the mounting bracket, and plug in or mount the new WS01F01691 assembly. Replace the light cover, restore power, and test by opening the oven door.
