A failed water inlet valve is the single most common cause of a GE top-load washer that won’t fill, fills with the wrong temperature, overflows, or leaves dispensers completely dry. In most GE and Hotpoint top-load washers, the quad (4-solenoid) water valve controls hot fill, cold fill, bleach dispenser, and fabric softener dispenser independently. When one solenoid burns out, that function stops entirely — when one sticks open, water runs uncontrolled and overflow risk is immediate. ⚡ Most common water system failure in GE top-load washers. Part WW01F01651 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores all four fill functions immediately — no modification required.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this water valve restores all fill and dispenser functions immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 30–45 minutes. Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before beginning. The valve is accessed from the rear of the machine — photograph the hose connections and wiring harness before removal. Disconnect the wiring harness and hose connections, remove the mounting screws, and swap the valve. Torque hose fittings to hand-tight plus a quarter turn — overtightening cracks the plastic ports. Run a full fill cycle to confirm all four solenoids are operating before reassembling the rear panel.
