A GE or Mabe electric range burner that won’t heat at any setting, stays stuck on high, or only works at one temperature has a failed infinite switch — the component that controls burner power from simmer to full heat. In most GE DER, JCAS, REX, and RAS series electric ranges, the infinite switch WS01F09340 regulates the duty cycle of the surface burner element, cycling it on and off to maintain the selected temperature. When it fails, the burner either loses all heat, stays on full power regardless of the knob position, or becomes erratic. ⚡ One of the most common surface burner failures on GE and Mabe-built electric range platforms. Part WS01F09340 is the genuine OEM infinite switch (Item #67 in diagram) that restores precise burner temperature control across all settings.
This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:
✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this infinite switch restores full burner temperature control immediately.
Skill Level: Moderate — 20–30 minutes. Disconnect power at the breaker before beginning — the infinite switch carries 240V line voltage. Remove the control panel screws and tilt or pull the panel away from the range to access the switch from behind. Photograph all wire terminal positions before disconnecting — incorrect terminal reassignment will cause the burner to malfunction. Transfer wires one at a time to the new WS01F09340, secure the switch in the panel, reassemble, restore power, and test all heat settings from low to high.
