1. Unplug the washer – Disconnect power from the outlet.
2. Turn off water supply – Close both hot and cold water valves behind the washer.
3. Pull washer away from wall – Give yourself room to access the back of the machine and the drain connection.
4. Prepare for water – Place towels and a shallow pan behind the washer to catch residual water in the hose.
5. Disconnect hose from standpipe/sink – Remove the drain hose from the standpipe, laundry sink, or drain connection. Water will drain out — be ready.
6. Access the pump connection – Depending on your model, you may need to remove a rear access panel or lay the washer on its front to access where the drain hose connects to the pump.
7. Release hose clamp at pump – Use pliers to squeeze the spring clamp or loosen the screw clamp securing the hose to the drain pump outlet.
8. Remove old drain hose – Pull the hose off the pump outlet and remove it from the washer.
9. Inspect pump outlet – Check the drain pump outlet for debris or damage. Clean if necessary.
10. Attach new hose to pump – Slide the pump end of the new 137629208 hose onto the drain pump outlet. Secure with the hose clamp.
11. Route the hose – Route the new hose along the same path as the old one, avoiding sharp bends or kinks. Use any hose clips or guides on the washer cabinet.
12. Connect to drain – Insert the drain end of the hose into the standpipe or hook over the laundry sink. Ensure it's secure but not airtight (needs air gap to prevent siphoning).
13. Check hose height – The drain hose should be elevated 30–36 inches above the floor at the standpipe. Too low causes siphoning; too high restricts drainage.
14. Secure the hose – Use a hose clip or zip tie to secure the hose to the standpipe if needed to prevent it from falling out during spin cycle vibration.
15. Restore power and water – Plug in the washer and turn on water valves.
16. Run a test cycle – Run a drain/spin cycle and check all connections for leaks.

Proper drain hose installation prevents siphoning and flooding. The drain hose must be elevated to the correct height (typically 30–36 inches from the floor) and should NOT be inserted more than 6–8 inches into the standpipe — this maintains the air gap needed to prevent wastewater from siphoning back into the washer. If the hose is pushed too far down or the standpipe is clogged, water can back up and flood. When routing the new hose, avoid sharp kinks or bends that restrict flow — the corrugated design allows gentle curves but not tight angles. If your old hose was clogged with lint, consider adding a lint trap to the drain hose end to prevent future buildup. After installation, check both ends of the hose during a drain cycle — leaks often occur at the clamp connections if not fully tightened.
