If your GE French door refrigerator has condensation forming at the center door gap, warm air leaking between the doors, or a mullion that sticks, drags, or won’t pivot correctly, the mullion articulation assembly is the most likely cause. In most GE-built French door and bottom-freezer refrigerators, the mullion’s plastic hinge mechanism cracks or warps over time from repeated door cycling. When it fails, the center seal breaks down — warm humid air enters the cabinet, condensation builds on the mullion and door edges, and energy consumption rises. ⚡ Common failure point in GE GNE, GFE, GWE, GYE, CWE, and XNE series refrigerators. Part WR03F04420 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores proper mullion pivot action and door sealing with a direct-fit installation requiring no modification.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this mullion articulation assembly restores proper door sealing immediately.
Skill Level: MODERATE — 20–40 minutes. Unplug the refrigerator before beginning. Open both doors and locate the mullion assembly on the center divider between the two door openings. Remove the mounting screws securing the old assembly, disconnect any wiring harness if present, and pull the assembly free. Seat the new mullion articulation assembly, reconnect any wiring, and reinstall the mounting screws. Open and close both doors several times to verify the mullion pivots smoothly and the center seal closes flush before plugging the unit back in.
