Common Symptoms
- 8-inch surface element does not heat
- 8-inch surface element will not turn on
- Surface element remains on high
- Surface element temperature is erratic
Check Before Replacing
- If another burner uses an element of the same size, swap the elements as a comparison; if the problem remains with the same burner position, the switch may be involved.
- Observe whether the element remains on high despite a lower control setting; this symptom is associated with a defective infinite switch.
- Disconnect electrical power before inspecting the switch or wiring.
Pro Tip
Verify that the replacement switch is intended for the 8-inch element; the related WP7403P238-60 switch is listed for a 6-inch element.
