If your gas range oven won't ignite, takes forever to reach temperature, or simply produces no heat, a failed oven ignitor is the most common cause. Part number WP9782065 is the genuine OEM oven ignitor for a wide range of Whirlpool and KitchenAid gas ranges — the same part your appliance shipped with from the factory.

This ignitor directly addresses the following oven problems:
Oven won't light or ignite at all — the ignitor glows but the gas valve never opens, or there is no glow at all. Oven takes an unusually long time to preheat — the ignitor is weak and drawing insufficient current to open the gas valve. Oven shuts off mid-cycle — an intermittently failing ignitor causes the burner to cut out unexpectedly. No heat in the oven despite the broiler working — the bake ignitor has failed while the broiler ignitor remains functional.
OEM part number WP9782065 — the exact ignitor specified by Whirlpool and KitchenAid for these models. Flat-style ignitor designed for gas range bake burners. Operates at the correct current draw to reliably open the oven safety valve. Constructed to withstand repeated high-temperature cycling. Direct plug-in replacement — no modifications required.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer): The WP9782065 is the genuine factory replacement part manufactured to the original specifications. This is the same ignitor installed in your appliance at the time of manufacture and is the recommended replacement for reliable, long-term performance.
These aftermarket replacement parts are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Whirlpool, KitchenAid, or any OEM manufacturer.

Always disconnect power to the range before beginning any repair. The oven ignitor is located at the back of the oven cavity, mounted to the bake burner assembly. Remove the oven bottom panel and the burner cover to access it. The ignitor connects via a two-wire harness — disconnect the old ignitor, connect the new one, and reassemble in reverse order. Do not touch the ignitor element with bare hands after installation — skin oils can shorten its lifespan. Restore power and run a test cycle to confirm the oven lights and reaches temperature normally.
