Oven Won't Heat or Bake/Broil Burner Won't Ignite? GE Dual Gas Safety Valve WS01F03678 — Fix It Fast

If your GE, Hotpoint, or Monogram gas oven won't heat, the igniter glows but the burner never lights, or only bake or broil works, the oven dual gas safety valve is almost always the cause. In most GE and Hotpoint gas ranges, the dual gas safety valve is the critical safety interlock that controls gas flow to both the bake and broil burners — it only opens once the igniter reaches the correct temperature. When it fails, the oven will not heat at all, the igniter may glow indefinitely without ignition, or only one burner circuit (bake or broil) will function. ⚡ One of the most common oven no-heat failures in GE-built gas ranges. Part WS01F03678 is the genuine replacement dual safety valve that restores safe, reliable gas flow to both bake and broil burner circuits.

❓ Is This the Right Part?

This is the correct fix if ALL of the following are true:

  • ✔ Range powers on and the control panel or knobs respond normally
  • ✔ Igniter glows orange/red but the burner does not light after 60– 90 seconds
  • ✔ Gas supply to the range is confirmed on and at correct pressure
  • ✔ ONLY problem is the oven bake burner, broil burner, or both will not ignite or heat

🔧 Common Symptoms

  • Oven won't heat — igniter glows but burner never lights
  • Only bake works but broil doesn't, or vice versa (one solenoid failed)
  • Oven takes extremely long to preheat — restricted gas flow through valve
  • Igniter glows continuously without cycling off — valve not opening at correct current threshold
  • Gas smell when oven is off — valve not seating fully closed

✔ If these symptoms match, the dual gas safety valve is the most likely failed component in the system.

✔ In most cases, replacing this valve restores full bake and broil operation immediately.

📦 Part Details

  • Part Number: WS01F03678
  • Type: Oven Dual Gas Safety Valve — controls gas flow to both bake and broil burner circuits via igniter-current interlock; includes two solenoid coils (bake + broil)
  • Replaces: WB21K10157, 164D7209P003, AP3203583, PS249503, WB19K10044, AH249503, EA249503
  • Brands: GE, Hotpoint, Monogram
⚠️ Recommended While Repairing:
While the valve is out, test the oven igniter (bake and broil). A weak igniter that draws insufficient current is the #1 cause of premature valve failure — if the igniter is original and the range is more than 5 years old, replacing it at the same time prevents a repeat no-heat call within months.

⚙️ Installation

Skill Level: ADVANCED — 45–60 minutes. Disconnect power and shut off the gas supply at the shutoff valve before servicing. Remove the oven bottom panel and burner assembly to access the valve, disconnect the gas lines and wiring harness from the old valve, and mount the WS01F03678 in the same position. Reconnect all gas fittings and the wire harness, restore gas and power, then test for leaks with soapy water before running the oven.

💡 Pro Tip

This Part Is NLA — Stock Is Final:
WS01F03678 is no longer in production. If you own multiple GE or Hotpoint ranges of the same era, or service these models professionally, this is the time to stock a spare. Once this inventory is gone, aftermarket sourcing will be the only option — at significantly higher cost and with no OEM quality guarantee.
