A damaged drum wrapper is almost always caused by a seized drum support roller or worn front drum glides that allowed the drum to drop and contact the wrapper. Before installing the new wrapper, spin each rear support roller by hand — they should spin freely and quietly. Inspect the front drum glides (felt or plastic strips on the front bulkhead) for wear through to bare metal. If the rollers or glides are not replaced at the same time, the new wrapper will sustain the same damage within months from the same root cause. This is a major disassembly — replace all wear components while the dryer is open.
