A failed electronic control board is one of the most common causes of a Whirlpool top-load washer that won’t start, displays persistent error codes, or stops randomly mid-cycle. In most Whirlpool-platform washers, the control board is the central processing unit that manages every cycle function — motor speed, water fill, lid lock, spin, and drain. When it fails, the washer may refuse to start, get stuck in a cycle, or display fault codes that don’t clear after a reset. ⚡ Common failure point in Whirlpool-built top-load washers. Part W11406681 is the genuine OEM replacement that restores full cycle control and clears persistent error codes immediately.

✔ If these symptoms match, this is the most likely failed component in the system.
✔ In most cases, replacing this control board restores normal operation immediately.
Skill Level: Moderate — 30–45 minutes. Unplug the washer before beginning — control boards carry line voltage and must never be handled with power connected. The board is typically located under the control panel at the rear of the top panel — release the panel clips, tilt the panel back, photograph all harness connections, disconnect each connector, remove the mounting screws, and swap in the new board. Reconnect all harnesses exactly as photographed, reassemble, and restore power. Run a diagnostic cycle to confirm all functions are restored. Handle the board by its edges only — static discharge can damage the new PCB.
